History

The Physical Education and Sports Department was founded in the 1991-1992 Academic Year as a department under the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. After a decision accepted in 1995, it was renamed the Physical Education and Sports College. Today our college has four departments and approximately 500 students. 

Our Mission

The mission of our college is to provide high-quality education for candidates of physical education teachers,   sports coaches, sports managers and recreation specialists. Also, it is the mission of the College of Physical Education and Sports to promote the acquisition of healthy lifestyles by teaching the relationship among physical activity, physical fitness and health. Our college assists students in becoming more aware of their personal health by promoting healthy lifestyles to experience the immediate benefits of physical fitness/physical activity.

Building and Sports Hall

The College is located in the Central Campus of Erciyes University. Our college has open and closed multipurpose sports halls which support football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, swimming, gymnasium and athletics. Directory offices, Lecturers' offices, student's common rooms, computer room, and exercise lab are placed in main building of the college (İbrahim Yüzbaşıoğlu Building). A comprehensive library with the latest resources and multimedia facilities is also located within the building.

Certificates

Students can enroll in the Coaching, Teaching, Sports Management and Recreation Department. The collage annually accepts students through preregistration and a competence examination. On graduation, students are given the title of “Physical Education and Sports Teacher”, “Coach”, “Sports Manager” or “Recreation Specialist”. Graduates can be appointed as teachers in schools of the Ministry of Education, in private schools, in enterprises of Directorate General of Youth and Sports, universities, and sports clubs. They can also be appointed as trainer in professional sport clubs.
